Let's assume for a little while that you, dear reader, are capable of suspending your dirty jokes for a while, namely, for the duration of this blog post...

Wouldn't it be nice if one could carry a pocket sized avatar of a loved one with them wherever they go? You could take the miniature darling out of your pocket and show them things, ask their opinions, see their reactions, gently pat their head to show that you care. They'd smile at you, talk with you, and be the all around adorable beings they just are. Best of all, you'd never really miss them.

Now, half of you are probably on the floor, rolling in laughter caused by your naughty imagination. Shame on you, you just missed a really sweet concept.

Lately I have messed up my night time sleep more often than usual. I'm not by any means good at napping, so usually falling asleep is difficult. However, I've recently discovered that the Stack Overflow podcast will put me to sleep very promptly. Is it geek or what to find Joel Spolsky that soothing?

As some of you might know, I'm now kinda bilingual, equally comfortable and (uncomfortable?) with English as with Finnish. Almost every time I run through what I'm planning to say in my head, I do it in the other language than what I'm actually likely to use. I have no idea why. It's not a conscious choice by any means. The downside of this is that I might in the end still not know what to say, the upside is that what I say will not be practiced to death, no matter how often I have been running it in my head.

How do you other bilingual people do this? I know that not everyone 'practices' conversations at all... even I don't do it often, it just always catches my attention when I do.

Next time you are bored (but you never are, are you, dear reader...) take a roll of cellophane tape, locate the end of it, and go into a dark room. Really really dark room. Then just pull and enjoy the friendly photons.

If this was interesting, now thing about this: If the same is done in vacuum, you get enough xrays to take xray pictures. Very cheaply. Now, how cool is that?

According to a BBC article about 71% of 2,000 14 to 21-year-olds said they would not want colleges or employers to do a web search on them before they had removed some material. I'd say there is an about 71% chance that posting that material is considered a normal part of being a teenager in a reasonably near future.

Social networking sites are a huge change, but they are not the only change happening and them being so hugely popular will certainly trigger some other changes in the world, too. As so many people are being so open/revealing/daring/baring/honest/careless, the social standards for those things as very likely to change also.

I originally thought HotBabe system monitor would just cause lonely geeks to run their systems under more load, but yesterday I finally saw the light. It's meant to be used with photos of the system administrator themselves, gradually undressing. That will make them to keep the system activity down as otherwise they will end up accidentally mooning the whole office.
